Dr Paul le Roux is Sub-Specialist in Reproductive Medicine. He is a Director and the CEO of Cape Fertility Inc – a large private fertility clinic in Cape Town.
He served as President of the South African Reproductive Medicine Society (SASREG) for two terms, and is currently the Secretary-General of the AFFS (African Federation of Fertility Societies).
He completed his post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and his fellowship in Reproductive Medicine at the University of Cape Town.
His original research work in endocrinology has been published in leading international journals, and he has presented many papers at international congresses.
His special interests are IVF, gamete donation and fertility preservation. He performed the first laparoscopic ovarian tissue transplant that resulted in a live birth in Africa.
He has been the Chair of many Local and International Organising Committees for congresses in South Africa. He served as the liaison person for new fertility legislation with the National Department of Health.
He co-authored two IFFS (International Federation of Fertility Societies) Surveillance reports, and wrote the chapters on International Legislation, Guidelines and Post-humous reproduction.
Cape Fertility is a registered training unit and Dr le Roux is involved in post-graduate training of Reproductive Medicine fellows and embryologists.
