Lizanne van Waart, born in 1961 in Pretoria, South Africa, is distinguished in health psychology with a rich academic and professional history. After earning her BA in Sport Science with Psychology from Stellenbosch University in 1983, Lizanne continued her education, obtaining a Higher Educational Diploma from the University of Pretoria in 1984 and a B.Ed.Psych in 1988.

Her academic pursuits extended to Denmark, where she explored Reflexology & Meridian Therapy at The International School of Inge Dougans in 2001. Lizanne’s commitment to academic excellence continued with a BA.Hons in Clinical Psychology from Stellenbosch University in 2008 and an MA in Psychology in 2011, focusing on infertility counselling.

Since 2008, Lizanne has served as the Director and Founder of Wijnland Fertility, actively managing and coordinating ART programs. Her career began as an educator in Pretoria and Stellenbosch, later transitioning to psychometrics and research at the University of Stellenbosch.

Lizanne’s research on the psychological aspects of fertility patients was presented at the 28th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology in 2012. Her study was the only Sub-Saharan Africa to be showcased at ESHRE, 2012. She was also only the 5th South African at the time to have spoken at ESHRE. Her contributions extend globally, participating in conferences and workshops, and she is a member of prestigious organizations like BICA, ESHRE, and IICO.

Beyond academia, Lizanne has been an advocate for women’s health, addressing the psychological impact of infertility on couples and relationships in various media. With a passion for positive psychology, resilience, and mindfulness therapy, Lizanne van Waart hopes leaving a lasting impact on those facing fertility challenges.
